Past Event

TRENDS Research & Advisory, in cooperation with Young Professionals in Foreign Policy-Brussels and the European Foundation for Democracy are organising a roundtable discussion on Youth Engagement and Participation in Peace Building and Conflict Prevention.  Recognition of the role that young people can play in sustaining peace and deterring conflict in their communities is growing. From UN Security Council Resolutions to the Sustainable Development Goals to the UN Youth Agenda 2030, the active participation of youth in the decision-making processes surrounding issues of peace and security is increasingly seen as an essential aspect of building a more peaceful world.

This event will explore how international organizations, governments, and civil society actors can support meaningful youth engagement and participation in sustainable peacebuilding. The discussions will address the ways in which violent conflict impacts youth, youth involvement in peace processes, and young people’s role in countering extremism.
