Julian Schofield (PhD Columbia) is an associate professor in political science at Concordia University. His books include a study of armed forces influence in government (Militarization and War, Palgrave-Macmillan 2007), and an edited volume with Usama Butt on Pakistan’s regional foreign policy (Pakistan, Pluto Press, 2012). He is currently working on a book project examining the practice of nuclear weapons sharing. His articles have appeared in International Relations, Armed Forces & Society, the Journal of Strategic Studies, and others. He has conducted field work in Pakistan five times since 1999, as well as India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Egypt. His other interests include nuclear strategy, Hanafi Islamic ideology, social culture and combat performance, and Chinese maritime strategy.
