Non-Resident Fellow - Counter Terrorism & National Security
Dr. Andrew Staniforth is a serving UK police officer with substantial experience of counter-terrorism, currently leading a unique police research and innovation team designed to horizon scan for new and emerging threats. He is also Senior Research Fellow and Advisory Board Member at the Centre of Excellence for Terrorism, Resilience, Intelligence and Organised Crime Research (CENTRIC). He has extensive counter-terrorism experience in the UK and has designed national counter-terrorism exercise programmes and delivers training to police commanders and security authorities from across the world, currently supporting missions of the United Nations Terrorism Prevention Branch. He is author/editor of Blackstone’s Counter-Terrorism Handbook (3rd edition) (Oxford University Press 2013); Blackstone’s Handbook of Ports and Borders Security (Oxford University Press 2013); Preventing Terrorism and Violent Extremism (Oxford University Press 2014); Cyber Crime and Cyber Terrorism Investigators Handbook (Elsevier, 2014); Blackstone’s Handbook of Cyber Crime Investigation (Oxford University Press 2015); and Big Data Applications for National Security (Elsevier 2015).
